ACCELLERATE ACTION

27th march 2025

The exhibition was hosted by ORACLE in London and centred on the theme “Accelerate Action,” focusing on women’s equality and the importance of female representation across all industries. The event brought together professionals from a wide range of sectors to discuss how being a woman has affected their careers, highlighting both personal experiences and systemic barriers. Central to the discussion was the necessity of women participating in traditionally male-dominated roles, emphasising that diverse perspectives are essential for innovation, equity, and progress. The exhibition functioned as both a platform for dialogue and a call for tangible action toward closing gender gaps within industry.

This exhibition piece explores gender equality, with a particular focus on women’s equality and the need to accelerate action toward change. The work consists of plaster casts of my hands forming the sign for “equal”—flat hands placed side by side. The gesture begins at the centre and moves outward, symbolising balance, fairness, and the expansion of equal opportunity.

The colour purple is used deliberately due to its historical and contemporary association with women’s rights, dignity, and feminist movements, representing strength and solidarity.

The exhibition was presented through a personal invitation, emphasising that equality requires active participation rather than passive observation.

Responding to the theme “Accelerate Action,” the work reflects on the roles of women within industry and highlights the persistent gender gap in leadership, pay, and representation. The outward movement of the hands functions as a visual metaphor for progress and structural change.
